Sierra View - Antelope: Winners x2 - posted by: Scott Murphy on 9/28/2008 7:06:33 PM
Congrats to Erghe/Tyler for winning the 4.0 doubles tourney at Sierra View. They played a very close match against their first opponent, and then in the finals they played well to win another close one for the title. Lucky for Greg and I, we had an easy match on Saturday night to save us for Sunday. In our second match, we played a 2 1/2 hour match that went the distance. We lost the first in a tiebreak, then won the second set in a tiebreak. After the intermission, we got down 2-0 in the final set, but with Greg's awesome serving and defense, we took over the match. We held on to win 6-4 in the third. We got the Champion's blanket - go Antelopes!! -Scott

Congrats on Fair Oaks match - posted by: Unknown on 9/26/2008 12:07:56 PM
It was great watching you all play. Erghe and Tyler's match looked close. I hadn't seen Erghe slice so many backhands or Tyler hit so many lobs. It was fun to watch. Greg and Scott looked like they had their match well in hand. Their points didn't last as long. Dave was the man--taking control of the point and ending with a winner. At least for the points I saw. Bob looked like a backboard but with direction--each ball went to the opposition's baseline guy, neither a winner nor weak shot and perfectly consistent. Nice job! Antelope is 2 for 2 now.

T.I.E.S that Bind, Up/Down Tournament - posted by: Mark Stotlar on 9/10/2008 6:59:37 PM
The T.I.E.S that Bind, Up/Down Tournament, is happening on Sept. 21 at Johnson Ranch in Roseville. For those of you that haven't played in this event, you've really missed a lot of fun. The format is round robin teaming 1 wheelchair player and 1 "up" player, so the name "Up/Down". The rules are basically the same, and the competition is great. ACTA has participated in this event for several years, and I'm looking forward to playing again this year. Oh, and I forgot to mention there is prize money and food and other stuff. David Van Brunt is going to come out and visit us this weekend at Center to talk about the tournament and take sign-ups. I know he is looking for 10+ players, all levels, men and women. I hope you can join us there. You won't forget it. McKinley Park Labor Day Grand Prix - posted by: Erghe Poston on 8/30/2008 11:32:46 PM
Team Holzer/Poston walked away with the 4.0 doubles title. It ended up being a round-robin, since there were only two other teams, but they certainly didn't make it easy (7-5, 6-4 and 7-6, 7-5). A big thanks to the ACTA Saturday league and SATA team who keep us match-ready. The Rollingwood tournament is on the plate for next weekend. Anyone else register for the tourney?

Some not so weak tennis - posted by: Erghe Poston on 6/29/2008 9:39:27 PM
Yeah, except for the Bryans, I'm not a fan of modern American tennis since Sampras and Courier. Making a segue over to some fair results in tennis. . . Julius and I mustered up our very best in the doubles draw of the Roseville Community Tennis Association tourney today. We're proud to bring home the runner-up trophy against some challenging opposition, particularly the champs. Next year, we hope to chalk a big 'W' up for the local team.

Start wearing those disguises as I'll be hunting for volunteers real soon! LOL.

Seriously, we've got a great new location (Greenback and 80) that is close to everyone and should be busy. Even with the economy we should do well. I'm looking forward to having everyone participate in some way. It's how the club get the money to keep going each year.

This year we have: Ice Machine for the new facilities. Possibly new nets for Center High.

Wednesday Night Tennis - posted by: Erghe Poston on 3/30/2008 10:55:37 PM
Hey Antelopers, With the onset of spring weather, I wanted to get out there that a few of us that have been playing at the Mahany Park courts (Woodcreek HS) on Wednesday nights. We've been showing up at around 7pm. It'd be great to get some more players out there. We're usually playing doubles, but some king-of-the-hill singles (could work for doubles as well) is an idea for those who want a good workout. This may even be an opportunity for those teams in the Saturday league/SATA to get to know their partner or get a strategy (or new ones) developed. Be it a competitive match or simply rallying, there's lots of options as far as what type of tennis game to play, but our group that's been out there would be glad to have you join in on the fun. Cheers, Erghe
